1. Getting started

1. On first launch, choose a region on the world map and read the one-time safety notice.
2. Download the region over Wi-Fi (typically 3–10 MB). Each region packs terrain, imagery, contours, hillshade and place names.
3. Once downloaded, everything works fully offline — no signal required in the field.

2. Location and slope alerts

Avyline asks for location permission only when you first use position-based features. Allow While Using the App to see your position and the slope under your feet, or Always if you want track recording to continue with the screen locked. Your location never leaves your device — see the Privacy Policy. If you denied the permission earlier, re-enable it in iOS Settings → Avyline → Location.

3. Regions and storage

• Downloaded regions are listed under Offline; storage usage is shown under Me → Storage.
• Free plan keeps one downloaded region at a time. Additional regions can be removed and re-downloaded at any time.
• Avyline Pro removes the region limit.
• Region updates are applied in place; an update never removes a region you already have.

4. Avyline Pro — subscription management

Avyline Pro is an auto-renewable subscription offered as a monthly plan, an annual plan with a 7-day free trial, and a one-time lifetime purchase. Pro unlocks unlimited region downloads and route planning. All safety features — slope alerts, look-ahead radar, avalanche hazard overlay, official forecasts, track recording and backtrack — are free and always will be.

To manage, cancel, or see renewal dates:

1. Open iOS Settings → your name at the top → Subscriptions.
2. Select Avyline Pro.
3. Choose a plan, or cancel. If you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the current period; regions you already downloaded are never locked.

Purchases are billed to your Apple ID. Payment details are handled by Apple — we never see them. If you have a billing question, Apple Support handles the transaction; we can help with everything else.

5. Tracks, waypoints and GPX

• Recorded tracks and saved waypoints live on your device only.
• Export from the Logbook via the share sheet (GPX), and import GPX files with tracks and waypoints from the Logbook's import button.
• Deleting the app deletes all tracks and waypoints with it — export anything you want to keep first.

6. Forecast availability

Avalanche danger ratings are shown only where an official public warning service covers the region (for example avalanche.org member centers, SLF, and EAWS members). Regions without an official forecast honestly show No rating — we never substitute data from a neighboring area. Every forecast displays its source and publication time.

7. Accuracy and safety

Slope angles are derived from digital elevation data with finite accuracy; the app shows the uncertainty next to each reading. Avyline is a decision-support tool, not a substitute for formal avalanche training, a current official forecast, or beacon / shovel / probe. If something on the map looks wrong, please tell us — terrain data corrections are treated as high priority.
